Active Age Programme

Movement. Mind. Confidence. At Every Stage of Life.

At Proteus Sports Group, we believe movement is a lifelong skill.

Active Age is our dedicated programme for older adults living in retirement villages, designed to maintain mobility, coordination, confidence, and cognitive function through enjoyable, low-impact activity.

Using the same proven movement methodologies that underpin our successful pre-school football programme, Active Age adapts these principles to support health, independence, and quality of life in later years.

What Is Active Age?

Active Age is a structured, inclusive movement programme that focuses on:

  • Motor skill development and maintenance

  • Hand–eye and foot–eye coordination

  • Balance and fall-prevention strategies

  • Reaction time and cognitive engagement

  • Social interaction and enjoyment

Sessions are safe, adaptable, and suitable for all ability levels, including chair-based options.

Safe, Inclusive & Coach-Led

  • Delivered by Proteus-trained coaches

  • Low-impact and age-appropriate activities

  • Chair-based alternatives available

  • Minimal equipment and space required

  • Designed specifically for retirement communities

Safety, dignity, and enjoyment are at the heart of every session.

Our Approach

The foundations of human movement do not change — only how they are delivered.

Active Age uses:

  • Fundamental movement patterns

  • Simple, game-based activities

  • Cognitive challenges combined with physical movement

  • Clear progression and regression options

Every session is designed to be engaging, purposeful, and enjoyable, not intimidating.

What Participants Gain

  • Improved balance, coordination, and mobility

  • Increased confidence in daily movement

  • Enhanced mental alertness and reaction time

  • Reduced risk of falls

  • A positive social environment that encourages connection

Most importantly, participants rediscover the joy of moving.

Session Structure

Each session lasts 30–45 minutes and includes:

  1. Gentle warm-up and mobility

  2. Coordination and motor skill activities

  3. Cognitive and reaction-based movement games

  4. Balance and stability exercises

  5. Cool-down and relaxation

Sessions can be delivered indoors or outdoors, in small groups, and adapted to meet individual needs.
